Dirt Work Built Around High Desert Ground

Excavation Contractors Reno handles residential and small-lot earthwork across the Truckee Meadows and the valleys around it: pads for homes, shops and ADUs, trenches for water, sewer, gas and power, septic system digs, hardpan and rock removal, brush clearing for defensible space, and gravel driveways and RV pads.

Ground here behaves differently from what most national advice assumes. Reno gets only about 7.35 inches of precipitation a year, yet the city logs roughly 122 nights at or below freezing. Many valley soils carry a cemented duripan, a layer the U.S. Department of Agriculture describes as "extremely hard" and "extremely firm", within a few feet of the surface. On the edges of town, brush and slopes bring wildfire into the picture. Every estimate we write accounts for those three things.

How we run a job

  • A site visit before any number is written down.
  • A line-item estimate: machine time, hauling, import material, compaction and cleanup each priced on their own.
  • A USA North 811 locate request at least two working days before digging, and we wait for the marks.
  • Spoil and stockpiles kept where they will not blow, wash or block a neighbor.
  • Dust control with water on dry, windy days.
  • Finished grades that move water away from structures, not toward them.
